Warsaw Film School

This is a historic moment for Warsaw Film School. Out of thousands of submissions from around the world, only seven narrative films have been selected as finalists for the 2026 Student Academy Awards®, and two of them were produced at our school. They are also the only Polish films competing in this year's edition of the awards.

 

 

 

 

Both films will be screened on Tuesday, July 28, at 6 PM at Kino Elektronik as part of the "Here Comes the New" screening series.

 

Congratulations to the directors and the entire crews behind both productions! A Student Academy Awards® nomination is one of the highest distinctions a student film can receive. Widely regarded as the world's most prestigious competition for film students, the Student Academy Awards® have launched the international careers of many acclaimed filmmakers. Organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the competition's past winners include Robert Zemeckis, Spike Lee, and Pete Docter.

 

The awards ceremony, where the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be presented, will take place on September 14 at TIFF Lightbox during the Toronto International Film Festival.

 

This marks another milestone in Warsaw Film School's Oscar® journey. Previously, two Warsaw Film School productions—Our Curse, directed by Tomasz Śliwiński, and The Dress, directed by Tadeusz Łysiak—received nominations for the Academy Awards®.

 

Both nominated films were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
