We are coming back to Denmark for the OFF – Odense International Film Festival! This prestigious event qualifies for the Oscars, and also recommends productions for the European Film Award! Three years ago, we presented there our feature film "The Dress", which was later nominated for The Academy Awards, and this year we will show to the festival audience the documentary "Twig", directed by Konrad Kosycarz, with cinematography by Karol Kempiński. The festival will take place from August 28 - September 3.

OFF – Odense International Film Festival is a festival of short films, which has been held since 1975 in the Danish city of Odense in late August and early September. The event qualifies for Oscars in as many as three short categories: fiction, documentary and animation. The jury will also choose a film from one of the competitions, which will be qualified for the European Film Award. As part of the festival, apart from the screenings, there are also lectures, workshops, debates, seminars, industry meetings and parties.
Our "Twig" will compete for the award in the Documentary Competition. The protagonist of the film is Oliwka, the daughter of the owners of a grocery store on the ground floor of their house in a small village in eastern Poland. 'When I met Oliwka, I immediately understood that here was the story that needed to be told' says the director of the film and our student, Konrad Kosycarz. 'Working with a child on a documentary turned out to be an amazing adventure'.

The carefree days of Oliwka's childhood is disturbed by the regulars of the family shop. At first, it seems that the quick-witted girl is great at dealing with the intrusive provocations of customers on different levels of sobriety. However, the viewer will quickly realize that this is not just a comedy about a small girlboss who shows adults their place. Is there still some space in such contitions for Oliwka to simply remain a child?
The film's director of cinematography is our graduate Karol Kempinski, who very skilfully entered the world of Oliwka and enabled the viewers to get into her perspective. However, it was not without some difficulties. 'The biggest obstacle during the shooting was the widespread belief of the local community that we are secret TV journalists, only posing as film school students' recalls the director.

However, before the "Twig" will be shown in Dennmark, Polish viewers will be able to watch it during the upcoming 42nd Koszalin's Festiwal Debiutów Filmowych MŁODZI I FILM (June 12-17). We cordially invite you to the premiere in Koszalin on June 16 (Friday) at 4:45 PM. After the screening, there will be a meeting "Honesty for Honesty", where you will be able to meet the creators of the documentary!
There is one more WFS accent in the official OFF – Odense selection – the short "LIVE" directed by our graduate, Mara Tamkovich, qualified for the feature competition.
