The Brussels Independent Film Festival is an annual, week-long event that highlights the talent of independent and experimental filmmakers. Most importantly, it creates space for unique visionaries and voices. The festival showcases films by both newcomers and veteran filmmakers from around the world.
The screening of "The Dress" will take place on Friday, February 11 at 10pm at the Brussels Kinepolis Cinema. Admission to the screening is free. This will be a great opportunity to watch our film that has a chance to be nominated for an Academy Award on the big screen. However, if you are not planning a trip to Brussels anytime soon, you still have a chance to watch this production on the Short of the Week channel, where it will be available for free until the end of January.

"The Dress" is a story about desire and female friendship, written and directed by Tadeusz Lysiak, a student at the Warsaw Film School. The main role was played by Anna Dzieduszycka, whose acting was appreciated at many film festivals in Poland and abroad.
The film toured with screenings at nearly 40 film festivals and garnered numerous awards and accolades. In December, this low-budget production created by a group of talented students was also recognized by The Academy that placed our film on its shortlist. It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that The Academy has taken notice of our film. In 2015 we received a nomination from it for the documentary "Our Curse" (dir.Tomasz Sliwinski).
We wish the entire film crew success in Brussels!

Julia lives in the Polish countryside. Her music is death metal. Her favorite pastime: playing on slot machines. She works at a wayside motel for drivers. She’s lonely, she never had a man, never experienced physicality. Julia is short stature and her entire life is dictated by her height – the local community can’t seem to accept her different appearance. Everything changes, when she crosses paths with a handsome truck driver. Their eyes meet. Julia’s heart beats faster. The man soon becomes the object of her loving, almost erotic obsession...
