"The Dress" returns to Krakow
The film "The Dress" directed by Tadeusz Łysiak qualified for the ETIUDA Competition at the 28th International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima in Krakow. The event will be held in a hybrid format from November 16-21.
The International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima, organized in Kraków since 1994, is the oldest film festival in Poland which juxtaposes the achievements of students of film and art schools from all over the world, as well as works of fine-art animation films creators: professionals, students, as well as independent producers. The main events of every annual festival are the two contests which give the festival its name, and during which the following prizes are awarded: in the student competition, comprising feature and documentary etudes, the Golden, Silver and Bronze Dinosaurs, as well as the Special Golden Dinosaur Award for the best film school of the festival; in the anima contest, Golden, Silver and Bronze Jabberwocky, as well as the Special Golden Jabberwocky for the student creating the best animated etude of the festival. The annual Special Golden Dinosaur is also awarded to an outstanding pedagogue who is at the same time a successful, active artist.

Since its first screening in Krakow, the film has been on an almost continuous tour with screenings in competitions and film events around the world, from which it returns honored with numerous awards, accolades and (after winning the Atlanta Film Festival) a chance to take part in the race for a nomination to the Academy Award.

Tadeusz Łysiak – born in 1993, graduate of Cultural Studies at the University of Warsaw, student of Directing at the Warsaw Film School. Creator of two award-winning short films in Poland and abroad: "Techno" (starring Leszek Abrahamowicz, Danuta Stenka, Michalina Olszańska) and "The Dress" (Anna Dzieduszycka, Dorota Pomykała, Szymon Piotr Warszawski). Participant of the prestigious program FUTURE FRAMES - Generation NEXT of European Cinema within Eastern Promises at the Karlovy Vary Festival. Winner of the "Discovering Eye" award for young talented filmmaker at the Polish Film Festival in Chicago. |
