Lubuskie Lato Filmowe starts on Sunday!
50. the edition of the Lubuskie Lato Filmoweg starts this Sunday (29. 08. ). As many as 8 productions of the Warsaw Film School are in the official selection of the festival.
Lubuskie Lato Filmowe was established in 1969. The event is a film festival and, at the same time, a forum for discussion and exchange of experiences from the time of great changes – including changes in the model of cinematography. The festival is organized in Łagów – a beautiful place among forests and lakes, between Berlin and Poznan.
We're presenting our films which will be screened as part of the Lubuskie Summer program and giving you the dates and places of their festival screenings below.

"Eden House" is based on the true story of a teenager named Luka—who has landed in a religious drug-rehab center run by Antoni, a self-proclaimed priest. Living under its tyrannical regime of emotional and physical torture, Luka figures out that the only way he can survive is to escape.

The film's protagonist, 40-year-old beauty vlogger Marysia, finds out that the baby she is expecting has an incurable genetic defect and probably will die soon after birth. A desperate woman makes a difficult decision to give birth to a child and donate its kidney to the sick Anielka.

"The Cracks" is a story about thirty years old Teresa, a young mother who falls into postpartum depression after childbirth. Along with her husband, Tadeusz, they decide to temporarily move back to Theresa's childhood home in a small town.In her home town, Teresa unexpectedly runs into her past love, Anna. Strong emotion is reborn in both women. From this moment on the image of depression interwines with an image of desire and fascination.

"Dismay" is a magical and brutal story set in a Masurian village about the extraordinary bond between a father and an eight-year-old daughter and about the terrible consequences of an attempt to take away a hypersensitive girl from an alcohol-addicted musician. Little Ula does not know that at herCommunion party, instead of a long-awaited mother who has left her father, a curator from the social welfare centre will appear, ready to take her to an orphanage immediately. However, the girl will never allow anyone to take back what she managed to save after her mother left. Together with her father, a local organist, against all odds, she believes her mother will come back and she is still waiting for this moment. The joyful, May day of the First Holy Communion will turn into a nightmarish triumph of the wild world of Masurian nature, which is the only ally of little Ula.

Kuba grows up in a boring little village where nothing ever happens. He is raised by an alcoholic father who runs a sheep farm for a living. One day, an old acquaintance from the big city shows up in the village. The guest's visit comes at a time when the protagonist is entering a period of discovering his sexuality. Kuba quickly faces a difficult choice.

Sara is 26 years old and she has been suffering from anorexia for eight years. She currently weighs 36 kilos, but it is her highest weight since a very long time. She lives in a city called Sztum, with her mom and her younger brother. Her parents got divorced when she was three. As she says herself - she doesn’t remember her own childhood, but she remembers her brothers’, who she has always envied for the care that was taken of him. Her illness has given her the ’right’ to be weak and she says she’s liked it, because someone had to look after her. Paradoxically, Sara’s life has always revolved around food. Her time spreads between one meal and another. Her best friend is a kitchen scale and her worst enemy is also a scale, but the one in the bathroom. Obsessive calorie counting and weighing every single eaten product has been an inherent part of Sara’s life. After many years, because of her wish to start a family, she has decided to begin treatment in a closed therapeutic facility and has started a fight for herself and her own health.

A movie about the courage necessary to live a life in harmony with yourself. Policewoman Kinga fallsin love with a woman. She engages in helping women beaten during the march against fascism. She breaks an order. This gives her the strength to reject the values she disagrees with and build herself anew. The film refers to real events - the Women's Strike and the Independence March (Marta Lempart appears in the film). These actions give her the strength to throw away the values she disagrees with and build herself anew.

"The Land" is a film composed of six comedy-dramas which show contemporary Poland with a pinch of salt. Each would work well as a separate story, but together they make a cohesive completeness. All are based on seemingly mundane situations that take a perverse turn, driving the characters to the brink of endurance.
