„Winter Bloom” awarded in Venice!

The award was accepted by the director and screenwriter of the film, Ivan Krupenikov, who gave an extremely important speech on accepting Russian films into European festivals, which unfortunately also took place at Ca' Foscari:
'Beside standing here as a Warsaw Film School student I also stand here as a Ukrainian'. The filmmaker turned to the festival audience from the stage. 'I want to thank Ca' Foscari for inviting me to the festival, this truly was an eye opening experience in terms of how western europe treats the Russo-Ukrainian war'.
Ivan has found evidence that three Russian films in the competition are related to that country's invasion of Ukraine: 'The actor of one of the movies, it’s literal face, is raising funds for equipment for LPR (Luhansk People's Republic) separatists that now invade the eastern Ukraine. This equipment may have as well killed one of my friends'.
'I’m not here to accuse but to raise awareness: the art and the artist are inseparable'. The director emphasized. 'Festivals, art galleries and other art platforms bear responsibility for which artists they choose to promote. Russia is a terrorist state, and we should unite against the terrorist, not promote it'.

We are endorsing every word of our student. We're also calling for unity against the Russian aggressor also in the film art field. We hope that the organizers of the film festivals will take Ivan's words to heart and that they will stop supporting the Russian film industry.
Huge congratulations to the composer of the award-winning soundtrack, Jan Chylak, and to the entire team of „Winter Bloom”!
