Documentary film „To Eat Bread” in the official selection of the IN THE PALACE!
The short documentary „To Eat Bread”, directed by Mohamed Rabie, was selected at 20th jubilee edition of the IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival. The event will take place on June 10-17 in the Bulgarian city of Pernik.

IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious film festivals in Europe, dedicated to short films, new media and digital art. The event helds the EFFE Label – a quality mark awarded by the European Festivals Association. From 2017, the festival qualifies for the Academy Awards (in the categories: Best Animation, Best Fiction and Best National Film), as well as for the Student Film Academy Award.
Let us remind you that in 2021, in the category of Best Student Fiction Film of this festival, triumphed our Oscar nominee „The Dress” (dir. Tadeusz Łysiak).

The documentary by Mohamed Rabie, a Cinematography student of the Warsaw Film School, will compete in the Best Documentary Student Film category. The production presents the moving story of Basharon. A young man, in order to survive and to feed his family, works in extremely dangerous conditions in an Egyptian calcium mine.
Earlier, however, the film will be presented to the Australian audience at the Pigdon Street International Film Festival, which starts in Melbourne on March 3.

Luckily, Polish viewers will also be able to watch „To Eat Bread” soon! The film qualified for the Documentary Film Competition at the IFF ZOOM - Zbliżenia which starts on March 6 in Jelenia Góra. The screening of our production will take place on March 9 at 9.30 at the Jeleniogórskie Centrum Kultury.
The film was shot by the director himself. Abdelrahman Fekry is responsible for editing and Rami Talgi for sound.
Congratulations to the entire film crew on this great achievement! Such a qualification at the beginning of the festival road is a really great success.
